Introduction
AethericArts ("we," "us," or "our") operates Wrincle, a daily puzzle app. Everyone in the world gets the same puzzles each day, and you can keep a streak, collect points, and compare scores with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using Wrincle, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Section 2
Playing Without an Account
Wrincle is fully playable without an account. If you never sign in, your profile, puzzle results, and in-progress games are stored only on your own device and are never sent to us. You can play every puzzle, keep a streak, and see your own statistics in this mode.
Creating an account is optional and exists so you can play with friends.
Section 3
Information We Collect
We collect the following only when you create an account and sign in.
Account Information
- Your email address and password, handled by our authentication provider. We never see or store your password ourselves.
- An account identifier we use to associate your data.
Profile
- A display name you choose, which defaults to "new pal".
- An avatar you pick inside the app, stored as a small set of appearance choices.
- A short friend code, generated for you, which other players use to add you.
Gameplay Results
- Which puzzles you completed, on what date, and the points you earned.
- Details of each result, such as how many guesses you took, how long you played, and how many invalid guesses you made.
Friends and Nudges
- Which players you have added as friends.
- Challenges, brags, and reactions you send to friends or receive from them, including which puzzle and day they refer to.
Push Notifications
- A push notification token for your device, if you turn notifications on, together with whether that device is iOS or Android.
Notifications are off until you enable them, and you can turn them off inside the app at any time. Doing so removes the stored tokens for your account.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not use advertising networks and do not show ads.
- We do not use any analytics, attribution, or crash-reporting service.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Section 4
What Other Players Can See
Wrincle has a friends leaderboard, so some of your information is visible to other people by design.
- Players who have added you as a friend can see your display name, your avatar, and your results for each day, including your points and times.
- Anyone you give your friend code to can use it to send you a friend request.
- Your email address is never shown to other players.
If you would rather no one saw your results, play without signing in. Everything stays on your device in that mode.

How We Use Information
- To let you sign in and recover access to your account.
- To save your results so they follow you across devices.
- To show daily and weekly leaderboards among you and your friends.
- To deliver the notifications you have asked for.
- To keep the service working, diagnose problems reported to us, and prevent abuse.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about you.
Section 6
Service Providers
We use a small number of third parties to run Wrincle.
- Supabase hosts our database and handles account sign-in. Your account, profile, results, friends, and notification tokens are stored there.
- Expo delivers push notifications to your device and serves app updates.
- Wordnik supplies the word of the day. We request the daily word without sending any information about you; as with any web request, Wordnik will see the network address it came from.
- Apple and Google distribute the app and operate the notification systems their devices use.
These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Section 7
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your account information and results for as long as your account exists.
You can delete your account from inside the app. Deleting it removes your profile, your saved results, your friend connections, your nudges, and your notification tokens. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
You can also request deletion without using the app. See Privacy Choices for how, and for the other requests you can make.
Data stored only on your device is removed when you uninstall the app.
Section 8
Children
Wrincle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Section 9
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as Wrincle changes. We will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will give notice in the app before they take effect.
